Donate to our Annual Campaign

This year, we are continuing our subsidy support for students with financial needs so they can join Sigma/Nu Xi. We will also be offering our annual scholarships. We are also planning this year to sponsor a training event aimed at helping clinical faculty with the transition from bedside nurse to competent clinical faculty. Your donations will help us meet these three goals.

Please take a minute to contribute to this important campaign. One hundred percent of your donation to this Nu Xi fundraising campaign will go to scholarships and subsidies.

Nu Xi is a tax-exempt organization (Fed tax ID, 82-3108186) as per Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions are used to further our tax-exempt purpose. No goods, services, or benefits other than the joy of giving to a worthy organization are provided in exchange for this contribution.

I'm from the Bay Area, California and I’ll be graduating from CSU East Bay, Hayward with my BSN in December of 2023. From a young age I always knew I wanted to build a life that revolves around caring for others. My passion grew as I assisted nurses with patient care, Rapid Response and Code Blue emergencies as an inpatient pharmacy technician since the age of 18. I chose nursing as a career because I hope to empower my community and promote positivity in a world where we always need more empathy and kindness. I am most passionate about Pediatric Critical Care and I hope to help families heal and grow stronger. I’m committed to lifelong learning and am so excited to grow my nursing career; this is only the beginning!

Continuing Education Webinars:

Nu Xi is continuing its longstanding collaboration with Omicron Delta and Phi Gamma Chapters of Sigma and Our Lady of Fatima University to serve the members of Sigma, particularly members of the sponsoring organizations by providing continuing education/professional development virtual programs offered via Zoom to enhance the professional education and competence of Sigma members.

In order to expand the benefits of the collaboration, a more permanent repository of recorded programs allowing access for up to two years has been developed. Sigma members can view the recordings and submit evaluations for credit without cost by visiting https://bit.ly/CEArchivePortal. The programs are updated so that the most recent 2 years of programming is available at any given time.

Chapter News

  • Volunteers Needed: Oakland Clinic

The Order of Malta Clinic of Northern California recently (June 26, 2024) reopened after 6 months doubling its size and the number of uninsured or underinsured clients who can be seen free of charge. As a result, they are seeking current and retired nurses to volunteer at the clinic. Retired Nurses are a wonderful source of volunteers because of their extensive experience as well as time to volunteer. Volunteer duties include:

    • Help with intake and rooming patients on specialty care days and days when providers need more support than staff/volunteers available.
    • New patient pre-appointment visits to gather detailed and essential medical, family and social history, medication history, allergies, prior to the patient's first appointment with provider.
    • Assist with other patient contact projects, outreach and follow-up, capitalizing on nursing training and health care background and experience.

The ideal is one volunteer shift a week, morning or afternoon, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. A weekly commitment helps the volunteer keep current with Clinic processes and EHR access.

You do not need to have a current RN license. Liability coverage is held by the clinic.
