Mentors Needed: Bright Young Minds  (BYM) Conference @ SMU's Oakland Conference - April 16th (see flyer attached)

The BYM Conference is hosted by Alameda County Behavioral Health Workforce Development and FACES for the Future (cofounded by Prof. Tomas Magana). They are looking for a few mentors who will have a small-group conversation with high school students about their interests, career pathways, training, as well as the opportunities and challenges with behavioral/mental health work, for one hour between 10am and 1:45pm.

Oakland Unified High School - Rudsdale's Career and Technical Education Day April 26th, 9:30a - 12:30p 

Looking for bilingual English/Spanish volunteers. The first 90 min is career exposure (especially welcome folks who previously had an entry level healthcare job), and the second 90 min is career preparation including resume review and interviewing students. Lunch & Learn: Oakland High School School’s Cross Cultural Medicine Panel & Book Signing

(5/14, 12-1pm @ SMU’s Oakland Campus and on Zoom)

SMU’s Community Reads will host a panel, interactive discussion, and book signing with Oakland High’s Public Health Academy students about their health knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, and advice for emerging health professionals. Anthology themes include mental health, maternal health, life and death, herbs and teas, and physical practices.
